Southern Supply is a group of distribution and manufacturing companies headquartered in Springfield, Missouri. The various business units distribute automation and auxiliary products to commercial, public, government and industrial customers throughout the region and manufacture commercial aluminum windows and doors used worldwide.
Through some unfortunate experiences, the Southern Supply team identified the need to prevent their checks sent to suppliers from being stolen by fraudulent data modification. The first step in securing their business would be to set up positive pay with their banks, i.e. matching checks issued by a business with those presented for payment in their various business units.
Southern Supply needed a solution to streamline this process and protect their business from fraudulent activity.
Jesse Owsley is the Software Project Manager at Southern Supply and came up with the idea of using Informer to automate the process of submitting required check information to banks, which took less than a few hours to set up for multiple business units running different ERPs.
“Informer is the only tool we have that can do this. The alternative would be to have separate custom programs, which are expensive and not timely, written for multiple ERPs. Since Informer is independent of the ERP , we can use the same solution for multiple platforms, and we can do it ourselves,” Owsley said.
Owsley achieved positive compensation automation using various Informer features. One of these features is the ability to schedule tasks to send email or FTP to any address. The ability for a Job to send output only if the request returns the required data was also helpful in setting up this process. Aggregate functionality has also been used to achieve positive compensation automation.
Informer has helped the company save time, money and resources by facilitating an efficient and automated process that requires only one software solution. This has also helped to speed up payment processing times to vendors.
