A flagship government program that drastically cuts the price of leading software, boosting productivity and growth for UK small businesses, will benefit even more businesses following changes to the rules on which businesses can apply.
With customer relationship management software proven to increase business productivity by an average of 18%, the Help to Grow: Digital program offers businesses rebates of up to £5,000 on approved software.
Previously, only companies with more than five employees were eligible for the scheme. From now on, companies with at least one employee can benefit from it. This increases the number of eligible businesses by 760,000 to now reach 1.24 million.
Another change is that e-commerce software is available through the program to help businesses increase their sales of products and services online. This includes helping them manage their inventory, accept payments, and gather data and information about customer needs. Companies that adopt e-commerce software see an average 7.5% increase in employee sales over 3 years.
This means businesses can now access a £5,000 discount on 30 software solutions from 14 leading technology providers for e-commerce, digital accounting and customer relationship management software.
Additionally, the government has announced that Help to Grow: Digital will support tailored advice for SMEs on how best to embrace digital technology. The government will launch apps for counseling platforms to join the program starting today, and the counseling service will go live later this year.
Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones commented:
The evidence is clear: using effective software leads to increased sales and business growth. This is important as there are over 5 million small businesses in the UK employing almost 13 million people with a turnover of £1.6 trillion. I want to see these small businesses equipped with the latest software technology and encourage them to take a look at this program.
