Bulacan Province, led by Governor Daniel R. Fernando, on Wednesday, July 13, received a Certificate of Recognition from the Department of Agriculture’s Regional Field Office 3, in recognition of the province’s crop development program at high value.
The certificate of recognition was received by provincial leaders during the distribution of “Farming and Fisheries Interventions to Farmers and Fishermen” at Bulacan Sports Complex, Brgy. Sta Isabel, City of Malolos on Tuesday 12 July.
Over 300 Bulakenyo fishers and 85 Farmer Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) have received assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
According to the Provincial Office of Agriculture (PAO), a total of 35,963,322.48 million pesos of agricultural and fisheries interventions have been granted to beneficiaries in towns and villages of Bulacan, except for the city of Paombong .
DA Regional Technical Director Dr. Eduardo L. Lapuz, Jr., BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz, Governor Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis Castro led the distribution of agricultural engineering assistance and biosystems, including 14 shallow tube wells, four warehouses with mobile mechanical dryers, three four-wheel drive tractors, three rice combine harvesters and three solar-powered fertigation systems (SPFS-8) for the 27 FCAs.
For the High Value Cash Crops program, 50 FCAs received 100 knapsack sprayers and four FCAs received 180 kg of assorted vegetable seeds.
In addition, the fishing program received 170 rolls of gill nets with accessories for 170 fishers, 120 rolls of PE multifilament net (black net) for 120 fishers, five marine engines for five fishers, five fish selling equipment (tri- bike) for five anglers. , three packs of smokehouses for three FCAs and one smokehouse for one FCA.
Fernando and Castro expressed their gratitude to PAO, DA Regional Field Office 3 and DA-BFAR Region 3 for the important program. They also discussed programs for farmers and fishermen, including the nearly completed Bulacan Farmer Training Centre, the continued supply of fertilizers and animal husbandry.
