State Of Play Returns Next Week, Will Include PlayStation VR2 Games

Sony has announced a new State of Play set to air next Thursday, June 2 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific / 6:00 p.m. Eastern.

The PlayStation Blog states that the event will last 30 minutes and feature “exciting reveals from our third-party partners.” The post doesn’t mention the first part at all, so it seems like we shouldn’t expect any updates on games like God of War: Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, or the supposed remake of The Last of Us. .

Sony also teases that viewers will get a “preview” of PlayStation VR2 games. Just yesterday, it was confirmed that the headset will launch with over 20 games. The only announced title is Horizon: Call of the Wild, although this project may not appear if the event features third parties. At this point anyone can guess which PS VR2 software we will see.

The latest State of Play was in March, which revealed games like Valkyrie Elysium, Exoprimal, and Gundam Evolution. Given that this might be Sony’s only real presence during the onslaught of games showcases in June, it hopefully has some heavy hitters, even if they won’t come from its first-party studios.

We recently shared our own predictions for PlayStation reveals this summer on this week’s Game Informer Show podcast. What are you hoping/expecting to see at State of Play? Let us know in the comments!
