Elden Ring has huge amounts of hidden content which is quite easy to miss. While the game challenges players to explore in depth, missing a giant area or super boss can be difficult. We have what you need! Of course there is tons no spoilers here, so if you want to dig in yourself, leave immediately! I mean it, get out of here! Again, spoiler warning turn around now!
How to find Malenia, Blade of Miquella
If you’ve made it to the end of the game and wondered where one of the main characters in the story trailer is, she’s hidden away pretty well, inside a sprawling legacy dungeon. . She’s the best fight in the game and an incredibly serious challenge. To find her, you will first need the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. The first half may be the hardest to find, located in Liurnia of the Lakes in the southwest corner. Inside the village, you will find a grace check site. From this site of grace, follow the hill until you come to the perfumer enemy. Take them out, then keep going up the hill until you find a barrel/pot. Hit the pot once, and someone will come out! Exhaust his dialogue, and you will then have half of the secret Haligtree medal!
The second half of the medal can only be acquired much later on the critical path after unlocking the Snowy Mountains. To the north of this area is a hard-to-miss mini-dungeon, Castle Sol. You’ll need to smash a fairly high-level Commander boss in there, and after that, walk up behind him and grab the other half of the medallion out of the chest. With the two halves combined, take them to the elevator you originally used to access the snowy area and choose the “use secret medal” option instead. You’ve just unlocked a whole new outdoor space!
This space is vast and has tons of great endgame materials, so be sure to explore it all. However, our goal here is to get to Ordina, the liturgical city to the north, where you will need to solve an Evergaol puzzle in order to open the way to the Haligtree. To complete it, enter through the Evergaol gate into the city and be careful – extremely dangerous enemies lurk inside, use your best skills to dodge them or defeat them while lighting four lamps on top of the towers. Once lit, return to the normal world and the door to the Haligtree will be open.
Now the fun begins! The Haligtree is a vast legacy endgame dungeon filled with danger, but also huge rewards and a treasure trove of endgame resources. Go through the tree until you reach Malenia herself, the final boss of this area. If you’re victorious, you’ll collect his rune and unlock several cool new toys, including an adorable katana that requires 48 dex to wield. You can pick it up, along with its set of armor, from the Two Fingers room inside the Roundtable Hold. Malenia is my favorite boss in any From Software game, enjoy the battle.
How to find Mohg, Bloodlord
Ready to take on a cult? Mohg and his followers are well hidden, trying to subvert the shadow world. Interestingly enough, the easiest way to find Mohg is to head to the Secret Area via the Haligtree Medallion, as detailed above. In these vast snowy plains, you will find a church nestled near the top of the area. From there, locate the giant ringing boulder and go down the area line, roughly where you can see on the map above (maybe a little off because there’s no actual marker) . There will be a Blood Acolyte attacking you, dispatch it and you will find a teleporter that will take you deep underground to Mohg’s headquarters itself.
Although it’s not big enough to be a Legacy Dungeon, there are plenty of treasures to collect along the way to the Blood Lord. At the top of the area, you’ll find Mohg. Beat it for exciting new options to add to your repertoire!
How to find Draglonlord Placidusax
Nestled within the floating Crumbling Farum Azula is the lord of all dragons. Possibly the coolest dragon in any From Software game, Dragonlord Placidusax is off the beaten track and incredibly easy to miss. From the checkpoint shown here (next to the large bridge), you’re going to want to take the elevator back down and carefully jump onto the nearby rocks. It’s going to take quite a few jumps, and you’ll end up on a fairly large platform that doesn’t appear to be anything fancy. You will see skeletons in graves – stand above the obviously empty grave that has no skeletons, then lie down in it. You will be teleported to the Dragonlord Placidusax fight. This fight is a visual spectacle, that’s for sure. If you manage to win the day, you can get a very cool sword. For those of you who have embraced the powers of the Dragon of Faith in Elden Ring, you will also have access to a powerful spell that will allow you to melt your opponents with golden blast.
How to Find Astel, Natural Born of the Void
Space bugs? In my Elden Ring? It’s more likely than you think. For this one, you’ll first need to beat Rennala at the Academy or Raya Lucaria to unlock her tower, accessible in the backyard of Carian Manor (You know, the haunted place with all the Wallmasters). Once unlocked, a portal at the top will send you deep underground, eventually leading to a lake absolutely full of Scarlet Rot. Brave the vicious poison to the end and grab a coffin off the end of a cliff to find yourself in the Astel Arena. Nice loot from this boss includes a magic flail that manifests void energy and weapon ash that can be attached to great axes, colossal weapons, etc., which releases a void area of effect absurd!
