George RR Martin may be ‘shocked’ by how his Elden Ring lore has been twisted

Elden Ring game director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained how the From Software team changed and twisted George RR Martin’s world-building, which formed the overall mythos of Elden Ring. This myth formed the basis of the world, but Martin’s characters existed before the “Shattering” of the eponymous Elden Ring.

“So it was more up to us to interpret that and say, ‘How did they become such inhuman monsters? And how did the mad taint of the Elden Ring’s shattered shards and its power affect them?’ So it was our job to take these great heroes and twist and twist them into something they weren’t,” said game director Hidetaka Miyazaki. game informant. “And I think if we get a chance to show Martin and if he gets a chance to see the game and see these characters, I think he might be a bit shocked. When he wrote them, he was considering really something a little more human, a little more traditional human drama and fantasy characters, so I hope he enjoys it.”

For his part, George RR Martin recently said he thinks Elden Ring “looks amazing”.

The statement isn’t out of place for Miyazaki, whose past world design direction in Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro games has focused on taking a once-proud fantasy world and reducing it to a state. ruined.

Elden Ring will be released on February 25, 2022. You can read more about it in the Everything We Know About Elden Ring hub.
