Hybrid work model dominates post-pandemic workplaces

The trend towards hybrid work will continue even after the pandemic, and despite robust recruitment over the past year, there will be a slowdown in recruitment in 2022.

These are two ideas of the Our Crowd High-Tech Jobs index for the third quarter of 2021, published by Jerusalem Our Crowd this week.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left a lasting impact in the workplace, as 84% ​​of companies surveyed said their employees work partially from home. 81% expect this to continue in 2022.

Remote work opens doors for candidates living far from large cities. More than a quarter of the OurCrowd portfolio companies based in central Israel said they were hiring more staff beyond the main high-tech corridor between Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa.

“As we see this trend take hold, these same companies are also content to let staff members on the periphery work from home, which saves them long trips to the office and increases their overall productivity,” said Laly David, OurCrowd Partner and Head of Business Development. It just might be a permanent change, she added.

An example of this trend: the Flex Office vendor Mental space has just launched a new location on Kibbutz Yakum, south of Netanya. This is the first time that Mindspace has opened a branch outside of downtown Tel Aviv.

More job offers

OurCrowd, reports that the companies in its portfolio posted a 244% year-over-year increase in the number of jobs posted from the third quarter of 2020 to the third quarter of 2021.

In a survey, 65% of OurCrowd startups said they hired more aggressively in the past quarter, though the same proportion plan to cut hires in 2022.

Although 43% of companies surveyed reported that their physical expansion plans had been delayed by the pandemic, during the third quarter of 2021, an average of 47 new vacancies were posted on OurCrowd’s Portfolio Jobs site, compared to 31 every day in the previous quarter – a jump of 52%.

Software engineering represents 20% of current openings, business development 13% and operations 11%.

OurCrowd also announced its first virtual career fair, to be held in January in partnership with Nefesh B’Nefesh and TLV internationals.
