NWS confirms 7th tornado from last week’s storms near Cleveland

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A record number of single-day tornado warnings were issued in northeast Ohio after severe storms hit the area last week.

The National Weather Service confirmed six tornadoes that hit Thursday’s storms on Friday, but on Monday they added one more to the list. The seventh confirmed tornado was near Aurora.

Here is the list of the seven affected:

  • Township of Jackson (EF1) – winds of 110 mph; 2.96 mile trail – 50 meters wide; 5:10 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
  • Hinkley (EF1) – winds 97 mph; 2.57 mile path – 50 meters wide; 4:36 p.m. – 4:42 p.m.
  • Wickliffe (EF1) – winds of 97 mph; 0.17 mile path; 4:49 p.m. – 4:50 p.m.
  • Hudson (EF0) – winds of 80 mph; 0.78 mile trail – 25 meters wide; 5:08 p.m. – 5:11 p.m.
  • Mecca (EF1) – winds of 104 mph; 0.66 mile trail – 50 meters wide; 6.15 p.m. – 6.18 p.m.
  • Township of Johnston (EF0) – winds 80 mph; 0.08 mile trail – 20 meters wide; 6:20 p.m. – 6:21 p.m.
  • Aurora (EF0) – winds of 75 mph; 0.22 mile trail – 25 meters wide; 5:21 p.m. – 5:21 p.m.

Two NWS investigation teams were on the ground to assess the damage after 11 tornado warnings were issued Thursday.
