No more auto macro in iOS 15.1 Public Beta 3

One of the most annoying things about the new iPhone 13 Pro models has been fixed in the latest version of iOS 15.1 Public Beta 3.

Where does he have it?

What’s new?

Last week, we saw Unlock with Watch return to the public beta realm, just as a minor version was released for the general public. So what’s new this week? Everything revolves around the cameras.

The biggest news is that you can now turn off automatic macro switching. Are you wondering what it is? It’s the annoying lag you see when you approach an object with an iPhone 13 Pro and switch it to its macro lens (which is in a different location in the camera body to the back). If you prefer to have manual control of macro mode (obtained when you switch to the .5x lens and press to focus), simply turn off the new one. Auto macro in the Camera app settings.

Another new feature of the camera app in iOS 15.1 Public Beta 3 is the available ProRes video capture. A lot of people won’t need it, but for those who want to make professional videos with their iPhone, this is crucial. Just make sure you have enough storage space available. ProRes video clips occupy a parcel from space.

What else is coming in iOS 15.1? Here’s a recap:

  • SharePlay – the feature taken from the original beta and talked about extensively during Apple’s keynotes. This feature allows you to share your media with everyone during FaceTime calls.
  • Lossless audio – if you’re looking for hi-fi sound on your iDevice, this feature does just that (as long as you have AirPods Pro or Max).
  • Virtual Immunization Cards – If you’re lucky enough to live in a state that provides digital medical records, you can add your immunization card to Apple Wallet.

What is broken?

If you guessed “Material”, give yourself a prize. It’s still broken in iOS 15.1 Public Beta 3. In addition to the previous bugs, a fairly significant bug crept into Public Beta 3, according to the official release notes.

  • You may lose the sound during phone calls, followed by the call completely stopping! If this happens, switch to Airplane mode, then go back.
  • The App Store may not register that transactions are completed.
  • If you are using Voice Over, you may not be able to turn on alarms in the Clocks app.

If you find anything, use the Feedback app to send Apple any quirks you find in testing. Especially with third-party apps, there’s never a guarantee that everything will work as expected during beta!

What is corrected?

There is an App Store patch for iOS 15.1 Public Beta 3, but not much else. I think we’ll see a version for this big phone bug next week.

And after?

The public beta of iOS 15.1 is advancing at a steady pace. With weekly releases and plenty of juicy extra features, I imagine we’ll see a public release before the end of the month. However, the fact that major bugs like dropped phone calls are creeping into the beta at this point highlights the risk of running beta software as well as the fact that iOS 15.1 isn’t quite ready. for a public release.

There aren’t too many additional features to integrate and I imagine that with the introduction of big bugs, Apple will circle the cars and work on those in the future. The next two releases will focus on fixing bugs, and then we should see it in the wild right before or right after Halloween.

How do I register?

Go to the Apple Beta program site on the device you want to enroll, sign in with your enrolled Apple ID (or create a beta account if you don’t already have one) and follow the steps, c ‘ is that easy! You’ll download the beta profile to your iPhone or iPad, then reboot, check for a software update, and test in no time!

Keep in mind that this is beta software and Apple makes it very clear in the agreement that you scroll down to the Agree button that it can do anything until you brick your device and corrupt your data.
